Furnace Not Working? No Heat?

Check These Points Before Calling For Service.

  1. Is the thermostat set to HEAT?
  2. Is the temperature higher than room temperature?
  3. Turn furnace switch OFF, wait 1 minute and turn back ON.
  4. Check to see if the electrical breaker is tripped.
  5. Check for dirty furnace air filter.
  6. Check to see if the gas pilot is off. Is gas valve near furnace turned on?
  7. Check for closed or obstructed registers.
  8. Make sure the door to the furnace (air filter) is closed tightly. If not a safety feature may automatically prevent furnace from running.

Still No Heat?

If you’ve tried all eight steps above and still no heat, call your PDM Heating professional.  815-726-6264.

Why Does My Furnace Turn On and Off Quickly?

You may have an electrical fault in the overheating protection system. The furnace burners turn on and off so the furnace does not overheat. Gas ignition system safety controls not responding to commands. Call PDM Heating Since 1885 for help.

Furnace Not Heating Enough?

Check your air filter. If it looks like a gray furry cat it’s time to replace. A dirty furnace air filter can reduce airflow 60%, increase utility bills and cause costly breakdowns.

If the air filter is ok you may have a faulty air movement protection system. Could be dirty or blower needs to be replaced. Dirty gas burner may cause heating problems. Another possibility is you may have a problem with your ductwork.

Why Is My Furnace Making A Banging Sound?

A thumping, banging or clanking sound could be a loose or broken off part in the motor or blower assembly. Should you hear one of these noises, turn off your furnace immediately. Call PDM to examine and repair or replace the broken part before you turn your furnace on again. Another possibility is a delayed ignition problem. Your furnace is “exploding” each time it turns on. Consider this dangerous.

Blower On Furnace Not Working?

Turn the furnace HEAT OFF, turn your thermostat to “FAN ON only,” and wait a few minutes. If you see or hear the fan turn on, your blower motor is not the culprit. If the fan does not start, you have a wiring issue (check circuit to see if breaker trips) or motor problem. When the fan in a furnace is not working, could be a worn down or cracked belt that needs to be replaced.
